“I see a world with more kindness, understanding and laughter.
A world full of happy, healthy and connected people.”

Hello and welcome to my website.

I’m really pleased that you’re here and have chosen to take the first steps towards bringing much more love and laughter into your life and the lives of many others. It really is the best way I know to be happy and healthy for the long-term and I’m really grateful to be able to share some of that journey with you.

Always happiest in the natural environment, I originally trained as a mountain guide and for many years I thoroughly enjoyed taking people into the great outdoors until, one fateful day, I broke my back in three places whilst off-piste skiing in the French Alps and was prompted to re-evaluate my career and return to education as a mature student.

After graduating with a First Class honors degree in Business and a Professional Diploma in Management, in 2003 I returned to the world of work and embarked upon a part-time MBA with the Open University.

However, in hindsight, it’s clear that I preferred climbing hills to career ladders and despite the many apparent job and life successes that followed, in 2012 I realised that the hearty laughter I’d once known was almost completely missing from my life and upon visiting my GP, I was clinically diagnosed with stress, anxiety and depression. I had lost my way.

In January 2013, my recovery back to full health shifted dramatically when I experienced a laughter workshop for the first time. Not only did I laugh more deeply than I had in years, but the therapeutic benefit that I received that day, clearly demonstrated to me how the simple act of free-flowing laughter had the power within it to transform the lives of many others.

By combining the intrinsic power of laughter with my business experience and the group leadership skills I had acquired from my time on the hill, I qualified as a Laughter Yoga Leader and Teacher in the same year and gradually began to provide workshops, training courses and events across the UK and beyond.

Since then, my business has continued to grow and develop, but it’s mission to help others to relax, connect and feel good, in a way that is gentle, healthy and fun, has always remained at it’s core.

Today, Applied Wellness provides workshops, training and retreats in natural mindfulness, and inspired permaculture and has developed its own Therapeutic Laughter Coach (TLC) programme. This unique 9 step method, combined with insight and experience gained over many years of mindfulness and meditation, provides the necessary tools to safely guide people towards achieving lasting, positive change in their lives.

I am totally committed to helping others to live, love and laugh unconditionally again and, with a passion for business performance and change, I enjoy collaborating with other dynamic individuals and organisations that want to make the world an even better place to be.

My style is open, natural and easy and based upon practical application and continuous research into what truly makes us well. My own direct experience gives me the confidence to speak publically with passion and authority and I’ve presented my work on TV, radio and at many conferences and large events, including the 40th anniversary celebrations of Mind Body Spirit Festival in Olympia, London and the Laughter Festival, which I founded in 2016.

I love what I do and my work has taken me into many community organisations, volunteer groups, schools, charities, care homes, hospices, SMEs and large businesses, always with a view towards helping people improve their health, their happiness and their overall performance.

I hope you’ll enjoy your visit here, exploring the different facets of my business and I very much look forward to connecting with you soon.

With love and laughter,
Wes. 🙂
